I’m a seasoned litigation attorney with more than twenty years of experience navigating complex legal matters both inside and outside the courtroom. Licensed to practice law in Michigan and North Carolina, I have built a career grounded in justice, equity, and accountability.

Over the course of my career, I have served in multiple roles across the criminal justice system—including police officer, legal advisor, prosecutor, and defense attorney—giving me a rare and comprehensive understanding of how the system works at every level. I began my public service with the Detroit Police Department, where I advised on legal policy, use-of-force standards, and departmental procedures. I later served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Detroit, defending the city and its officers in civil litigation.

As a prosecutor in Wayne County and Macomb County, and later as a Senior Trial Attorney in Monroe County, I handled hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases, including homicides, criminal sexual conduct, domestic violence, and drug trafficking. I have extensive trial experience, having prosecuted and litigated hundreds of cases before both judges and juries. While serving in Forsyth County, North Carolina, I was assigned to the Drug Unit and also served as second chair in a capital murder case.

Today, as an Assistant Public Defender, I represent clients in District and Superior Courts, providing strategic counsel and strong courtroom advocacy. I’m well liked by the legal bar and I am steadfast in my representation of the voiceless, mentally Ill, youth, working poor and those who cannot afford a private attorney with a commitment to fairness.

I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law from Alma College. I also studied Spanish language and culture through a foreign studies program in Madrid, Spain.

Throughout my career, I have remained a strong advocate for victims and a champion for a more equitable justice system—bringing experience, integrity, and a results-driven approach to every case I handle.
